The books are here ! Now the hard work starts

It’s a couple of years since I started with the concept, mapping out the ideas after a great Safebase® training course following our adoption. Since then I was tweaking and re-drafting the story, dealing with cancer and a stem cell transplant, the loss of my Mum but after all of that and a renewed focus and love for the story the books are finally here!

I can’t believe how amazing they look. So colourful, so bright and the story really comes to life. My boys have both read it several times and hearing them read it brings a lump to my throat and tears building up in my eyes.

The team at FI&Books have bene wonderful at helping me bring this vision to life as well as the AMAZING illustrator Lucie Cooke who somehow managed to get into my head with exactly what I was looking for.

I have had so much lovely feedback from young readers already, from adopted, fostered and birth children alike. They say how the story and journey the two bikes go on is fully relatable and helps them to process different families. The book also focuses on setting your goals and achieving for ALL children.

The parent bikes in the book are non-gender specific, making it applicable to all types of families.

It’s so humbling to see it being loved already. I just wish my late Mum was around to see it.

Now the hard work starts! As I have self-published I don’t have the benefit of an agent, publisher and other professionals with a large marketing and distribution arm. It’s all down to little old me. I am up for the challenge and am already reaching out to schools, adoption agencies and learning how to use socials to help promote my book. If you know of anyone who would benefit from the book or a use you feel is relevant please let me know. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

For now, enjoy the book, let me know your feedback and thank you in advance for helping me to spread the word x

This is just the first adventure for Olly and Lilly and I already have a second book in the making, as well as ideas for an adult book.
